Jail Ministries
On March 14, 2005 the Guilford County Jail Ministries, Inc. was formed.
MISSION STAMENT Understanding that Christ is our Savior, GCJM is organized to raise funds through various solicitations, fund raising events, the resale of products, and other efforts for the purpose of assisting GCJM in meeting the costs associated with the program ministries.
ORGANIZATION
The GCJM is a volunteer organization comprised of Christian Individuals from different walks of life.
PURPOSE
To reach those incarcerated in the Guilford County, North Carolina Jail with the Gospel of Christ;
To financially support and supervise the chaplaincy staff and volunteers providing ministry to those incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail;
To promote the involvementof community accountability groups in the lives of those incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail, both during the period of their incarceration and after their release;
To facilitate assessment and treatment by appropiate treatment centers for those incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail who suffer from one or more addictions;
To help those incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail to find a local church home after having received ministry from the chaplaincy staff and volunteers of the corporation during their incarceration in the Guilford County Jail;
To facilitate the involvement of a Christian half-way house for those who need those services;
To coordinate the transition to the ministry of chaplains or volunteers at other jail or prison facilitiesto which those originally incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail may subsequently be transferred;
To recognize volunteers and staff who have performed exceptional services or who have otherwise achieved special honors; and
To promote educational and professiona support of, and to enhance community involvement in, Christian ministry to those incarcerated in the Guilford County Jail.
