International Student Ministries is one of our oldest ministries. It began about twenty years ago at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Greensboro. It grew rapidly for several years to the point that Immanuel Church requested the Association WMU to take it over as one of its ministries. It still prospered, helping many International students, including winning some to a new life in Christ.
Its growth led to the WMU asking the Association to adopt it as one of its ministries and has continued in a great way to the present time.
Its chief function is to provide friend families for International students while they study here in Guilford County. In many instances a very close relationship evolves and lasting friendships are developed. A good number of these students go back to their homeland and are bearing witness for Christ.
